Dear Reader,

I’m currently studying physics at a university in Indonesia, and my daily workflow involves dealing a lot with Microsoft Word and complex mathematical syntax. Over time, this has led to a few incredibly frustrating problems that I desperately wished someone would solve.

First, writing equations in Word feels incredibly clunky; it often displays a placeholder like [equation], forcing you to constantly dig into the equation tab just to see or edit the math syntax. Second, I wanted a way to write math smoothly and intuitively, similar to the scientific calculator interface in Desmos. And finally, I absolutely dislike doing repetitive calculations manually—especially when AI agents are now smart enough to automate that for us.

When I looked for existing software that covered all these problem above, the only options I found required a monthly subscription. While I'm not completely broke, as a student, every single penny matters u know! So, I decided to take that practiculary stuff into my own hands and write my own custom solution.

In the begining, I tried using Markdown (.md) and converting it to documents via Pandoc, but the math syntax rendering turned out terrible. That final annoyance was the spark that drove me to build a proper user interface. That is how Mathend was born: a powerful, intuitive tool designed to help students, educators, and professionals write mathematical expressions naturally, solve complex problems, and automate repetitive calculations seamlessly.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for being a part of this journey with me. I’m incredibly excited to see how Mathend can help you streamline your workflow and unlock the true power of computational mathematics.

Sincerely,

Syaddad
